National Association of Veteran Cycles Clubs. A brief history
The NAVCC was established at an inaugural meeting held on the 8th April 1956 at the Village Hall at Meriden. A total of 19 persons attended representing the following veteran cycle clubs; Bawtry, Coventry, Peterborough and Southern. With representatives from the Pickwick Bicycle Club and Cyclists’ Touring Club. The affiliation fee set at 2 guineas per club and the Association funds at the end of the first year was £5.17s.9d (£5.89). Within the first two years three new clubs were affiliated; Bantel Veteran Cycle Club, Oundle Wheelers Veteran Cycle Club and Long Sutton & District Veteran Cycle Club.

The Association’s objective is to co-ordinate the aims and activities of the constitute bodies and members, to publish such aims and activities, to initiate or help with suitable activities, to provide insurance to affiliated clubs to enable rides and activities, co-ordinate and support the affiliated clubs to plan, organise and stage the National Rally and assist in forming clubs of veteran and vintage cycle enthusiasts in those parts of the country not presently served by such clubs.

Between 1958 and 1963 the National Rally was open to riders from other clubs, although these clubs were not affiliated to the NAVCC they were referenced in the Rally programme. The programme for 1960 only refers to affiliated clubs; Coventry Veteran Cycle Club, Bantel Veteran Cycle Club, Peterborough Vintage Cycle Club, Southern Veteran Cycle Club, Long Sutton & District Veteran Cycle Club and Oundle Wheelers Veteran Cycle Club, therefore it is not known if non-affiliated clubs rode that year.
